Business planning guides

Build a plan whose narrative, financials and supporting evidence agree.

A practical preparation sequence

  1. Write a project brief. Define the operating format, location status, owner role, opening target and funding purpose.
  2. Create an evidence register. List the source, date and scope behind each important assumption, including facts still missing.
  3. Build the forecast. Calculate what the project needs and whether it can fund operations and debt as it opens.
  4. Write the plan from that case. Explain how the operation produces the forecast rather than attaching unrelated numbers at the end.
  5. Check the recipient’s requirements. Ask the lender which forms, records and signatures it needs for your circumstances.

Use a worked case alongside the guide

The two business-plan examples show the connections and unresolved evidence in a readable form. The methodology supplies precise definitions for their financial measures. These resources are preparation tools; they do not replace a lender’s instructions.
